For Airbus CyberSecurity in Ottobrunn near Munich we are looking for a Cyber Security Architect Space (d/f/m) in the area of Cyber Engineering for the Defence and Aerospace Security department.

You will assume responsibility for IT security in the space and ground segment of satellite programs (e.g. SATCOMBw, EDRS, Galileo). This includes the design, specification and requirements management of security-relevant subsystems such as encryption and authentication systems in the satellite and on the ground.

Responsibilities

Tasks & accountabilities:

  • Definition of guidelines for controlling the development process for security-relevant requirements
  • Design and requirements engineering of safety-relevant requirements for the ground and space segment of satellite missions
  • Creation and maintenance of device specifications, interface requirement documents (IRDs) and interface definitions (ICDs)
  • Control of subcontractors, e.g. evaluation of quotations, performance of milestone reviews, evaluation of deliveries and creation of change requests
  • Project communication with internal and external partners, discussion of safety-relevant aspects with authorities and institutions

 

You will also be responsible for the following activities, where previous experience would be an advantage:

  • Accompaniment of the design and implementation according to the specifications of the ESA-ECSS development standard, if necessary
  • Accompaniment of the approval of components by national and international authorities, e.g. BSI, NATO, ESA
  • Creation of cryptographic concepts for the secure communication of the ground and space segment
  • Selection and testing of suitable crypto-algorithms and crypto-mechanisms

Profile

  • Completed studies or doctorate in electrical engineering, communications engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science or similar
  • In-depth experience in information systems and engineering
  • Routine in Requirements Engineering and V-Modell
  • Know-how in the field of satellite communications or satellite navigation programmes
  • Experience in applied cryptography, e.g. through cryptographic device development, use and operation of key devices
  • Cryptographic algorithms and protocols, e.g. AES, RSA, post-quantum methods, etc. are no novelty for you
  • Knowledge about IT security of crypto devices and their operational environment as well as red-black separation and tamp protection measures
  • Experience in accompanying evaluations on the basis of Common Criteria, ISO27000 series and/or the regulations of the German Armed Forces is desirable
  • Knowledge of satellite architecture, ground to space communication and onboard data handling is a plus
  • Familiarity with UML, SysML and programming languages such as C++ or Python is desirable
  • Knowledge of ground segment and satellite architecture is advantageous
  • Fluent knowledge of German and English
