Boeing Defence UK (BDUK) is looking for an Occurrence Manager Support role to join the BDUK Safety Management Systems (SMS) team.

The Occurrence Manager Support role will provide support to the BDUK Occurrence Manager in the development of the BDUK SMS within Aircraft Programmes. This role will also provide support to the Aircraft Programmes SMS activities and Safety Officials.

The Occurrence Manager support role will support the maintenance and advancement of the BDUK SMS and ensure it is effective.

Responsibilities

BDUK Occurrence Manager Support

Reporting to the BDUK Safety Manager. The role will involve the close liaison with the BDUK Occurrence Manager and Safety Officials.

The role has the following key responsibilities in support of the BDUK Occurrence Manager:

  • Occurrence Management of relevant safety reports
  • Oversight and management of relevant safety actions and progression of local investigations
  • Close liaison with key functions and stakeholders
  • Perform Safety Investigations in response to the triaging of safety reports
  • Process safety performance / trending metrics as directed
  • Promote safety; providing feedback and promotion

Travel within the UK is expected and some overseas travel may be required.

Profile

Essential competencies:

  • Experience in working in an engineering, maintenance or air environment.
  • Awareness of MoD safety requirements.
  • Proven record in interacting successfully across multi-discipline teams.
  • The candidate should possess good communication skills and demonstrate the ability to use common IT tools.
  • The role will have significant UK MoD customer, supplier and wider Boeing interfaces and, therefore, a person who is diplomatic whilst being strong minded is essential.

Desirable competencies:

  • Formal Safety Management Systems training and experience.
  • Experience using the MoD’s ASIMS/DASORs for in-service occurrence monitoring and trending or equivalent Safety Reporting System.
  • Experience of supporting safety or root cause investigations.
  • Awareness of Human Factors / Error Management.

SC level UK Security Clearance (or ability to obtain) is essential.
