The Electrical Engineer intern will participate in flight spacecraft system development. This is an exciting hands-on role involving high voltage power electronics, embedded systems design, rapid prototyping, circuit design, and lab testing.

Responsibilities

  • Assist senior electrical engineers in the design and development of innovative analog and mixed-signal electronic systems for operation in space
  • Spend time in the lab performing board bring up, testing, and debugging of power supply hardware for spacecraft
  • Write code for and test ARM microcontrollers and their accompanying embedded systems
  • Develop and use mixed-signal behavioral models and behavioral simulation techniques and tools to verify sub-system and system functionality and performance
  • Create validation plans and scripts, and collect and assess validation results
  • Create clear and thorough documentation of design and product development activities to ensure high quality designs and to support dissemination of important design information to cross-functional teams

Profile

  • Currently pursuing an Electrical Engineering degree or related discipline
  • Already completed course work in analog circuits, digital circuits, transistors, and magnetics
  • Experience working with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, DMMs, etc)
  • Experience coding in C and working with microcontrollers
  • Prior coursework or projects with power supply design is a plus
  • Strong problem solving, technical, math and science skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Competitive candidates for technical positions will have very high GPAs at a minimum threshold of 3.5 on a 4 point scale.

This position requires access to export-controlled commodities, technical data, technology, software, and services. U.S. citizenship, U.S. legal permanent resident status, or protected person status under 8 U.S.C. Â1324b(a)(3) is required.
