We are recruiting a Database Administration should work for our Customer (EPO) from our off-site office in Skopje and/or on site in The Hague, Netherlands

Responsibilities

EPO is increasingly focusing on new technologies, with PostGreSQL, Neo4J, Cockroach DB and Elastic Search all either being introduced, evaluated or expanded at this time. According to current Architecture guidelines, PostgreSQL is the primary RDBMS to be used for hosting structured data. However, MariaDB is also an emerging alternative in case open source applications are unable to be immediately transitioned to PostgreSQL.

 

The EPO’s current Database infrastructure also includes DB2 LUW, DB2 on z/OS, Microsoft SQL server, MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB NoSQL and Oracle. These are managed across all technical environments within the software development lifecycle (non-Production environments, pre-Production, Disaster Recovery and Production) and shall continue to be managed within a DevOps framework.

 

The Contractor shall perform the specific tasks detailed below and shall consider these specific tasks listed, an indicative and non-exhaustive:

  • Lead interrelated Database activities relating to the decommissioning of the Mainframe.
  • As part of the Mainframe decommissioning lead the transition to hosting technologies and manage the decommissioning of the DB/ZOS.
  • Prepare a roadmap for rehosting activities and facilitate the transition approach
  • Lead the transformation of the new re hosting platform.
  • Facilitate the Database transition activities for the decommissioning of the EPO’s Case Management System (CMS).
  • Provide technical solutions for the implementation of Cockroach DB and other new technologies

 

Profile

  • At least 5 years proven experienced resources.
  • Excellent skills and knowledge in the specific technical areas within the scope of Database service delivery.
  • Accredited for Cloud Services (Microsoft, Google, AWS and ideally also others) would be beneficial.
  • Proven experience in Data Centre migrations.
  • Proven experience of managing Cloud migrations.
  • Proven experience of working in an Agile and Dev Ops environment.
  • Stakeholder Management, Leadership and Coordination.
  • Demonstrated good interpersonal skills and the ability to work with various Service Groups.
  • Proven effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Fluent in English; knowledge of another EPO standard languages (German and French) would be an asset
